Sorghum Upma

Ancient Grain Recipe

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup Sorghum
  • ½ – ¾ tsp Cumin seeds
  • ½- ¾ tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1-1 ½ tsp Split Gram Lentil (Urad Dal)
  • 1 onion, cut finely
  • ¾ cup mixed vegetables, chopped finely
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  • Wash and soak the sorghum for min 8hrs. Drain and add fresh water and boil separately.
  • Heat oil/clarified butter in a pan. Add cumin and mustard. Add urad dal and saute till golden.
  • Saute onion till soft and then add the veggies. Cover and cook till soft.
  • Add salt and mix well.
  • Add the cooked sorghum, mix well and add lemon juice and coriander leaves.
